Welcome to Term 4!
Thank you to all families for ensuring children are wearing uniform, have their hat at school and are ready for an awesome term of learning together. Welcome back to all familiar faces and especially to our new student enrolments!
It was particularly rewarding to be greeted by such overwhelming friendliness on my return to school this term; quickly reminding me of the overall positivity of our School Community… that I had certainly missed… and in light of this, I thank Mr Michael van der Ploeg for his leadership in my absence.
At the start of the Term, it is timely to include a reminder of current School COVID Safety practices:
- All adult School Community members (staff, families and visitors) must check in every time you enter a school building (TAS App QR Code or manual paper check-in).
- The classroom external door is the daily entry and exit point - unless you need to see your child's teacher, we would still encourage families to continue the practice of ‘Stop, Drop and Go’ from outside the door.
- If you do need to make a visit with your child inside their classroom (between 8:30 and 9:00am or after 2:45pm) then please keep this brief (maximum of 10 minutes) and continue to maintain physical distancing (at least 1.5m) between adults.
- Please enter via the School's Main Front/Admin Entrance if you have any inquiries or for all student late/early departures.
- If you or your child are unwell, then please stay at home and do not come in to our school.
- Continued practicing of our improved hygienic respiratory etiquette - personal hygiene practices (handwashing , covering coughs and sneezes with your elbow or a tissue) and increased cleaning protocols for ‘high-touch surface’ areas remain in place.
- Keep ‘up-to-date’ by visiting the Department of Education’s Public Website for information about current COVID FAQs.
Our regular Assembly sharing dates for this term are on Wednesdays: 3 November, 17 November & 1 December (1:30pm start). Please note also that the Gr 6 Presentation Assembly will be on Monday 13 December commencing at 11:30am. This term, classes are also preparing items for our ‘2021 Celebration Concert’ event dates (Wed 8 and 15 December); however, I am not yet able to confirm any audience details.
2022 Enrolment Information:
- Kinder Enrolments for 2022 are now being accepted – please pick up an enrolment form from our School Office and book into one of our Friday ‘Pre-Kinder Sessions’ (9:00 – 10:00/10:30am or 10:00/10:30 - 11:30am). We want to start a strong partnership with all of our families by focusing on the priority of being ‘ready for school’ and to ensure the ‘best start’ possible for every child when preparing for Kindergarten.
- Another essential piece of information that directly affects our 2022 classes is having the most accurate information about our total student numbers. Staff are now in the process of forming all Prep to 6 2022 class groupings based on our current information. If you believe that next year your child will be enrolled in another school, then please advise the office (6442 3377) by the end of this week as we urgently require this information.
Our Term 4 Values of the Month are:
GROWTH – ‘Freedom’ & COURAGE - 'Responsibility'
Final Non-Student Attendance day
Friday 29 October is the final 2021 Staff Professional Learning Day – (non -student day)
Students do not attend school on this Friday, as this is a Ministerial approved staff professional learning day for all government schools.
A reminder also that Monday 1 November is a Public Holiday.
Upcoming Student Council Term 4 Activities:
Thursday 28 October – ‘Day for Daniel’ – wear something RED and bring a GOLD Coin donation
Day for Daniel is Australia’s largest day of action to raise awareness of child safety, protection, and harm prevention.
The theme is Wear Red, Educate and Donate.
Student Council’s ‘Day for Daniel’ – Keeping kids safe in our community!

The Daniel Morcombe Foundation is a not-for-profit registered charity and was established in 2005 by Denise and Bruce Morcombe following the tragic abduction and murder of their 13-year-old son Daniel in December 2003.
The 16th Annual ‘Day for Daniel’ will be held nationally on Friday 29 October; however, in 2021 our school day of recognition will be on Thursday 28 (due to our Staff PL Day being on the 29th this year).
This is a National Day of Action to keep our kids safe. It is about educating children through child safety and protection initiatives and helping empower our children to ‘Recognise, React and Report’ if they feel something is not right.
Wear Red, Educate and Donate is the theme for ‘Day for Daniel’ as we strive to take action and conduct child safety activities in our local community’. ‘
Day for Daniel’ is an important awareness with key objectives including:
- To raise awareness about child safety and protection and to promote a safer community for children.
- To educate children regarding their personal safety and empower them to ‘Recognise, React and Report’.
- To honour the memory of Daniel Morcombe.
‘Day for Daniel’ is also an opportunity for Australians to make a statement that crimes against children are not acceptable in modern Australia.
Please support this special day by wearing something RED and bring a Gold Coin donation on Thursday 28 October!
Finally, today… October 29 is when we celebrate World Teachers’ Day in Australia. Every day, Tasmanian teachers are making a difference educating and inspiring young people across our state.
World Teachers’ Day is a day for all members of our School Community to celebrate and be proud of our teachers, to say thanks for the significant contributions they make in our classrooms and communities.
‘Australians are increasingly appreciating the crucial role of quality teaching and school leadership in equipping students with the skills, confidence and a desire to succeed in a fast-changing world.’
While the greatest reward for teachers is seeing the growth in their students that learning brings, community recognition is also important for the advancement and renewal of the profession. World teacher’s day is an opportune time to pay tribute to our School’s wonderful teachers.
All of our TCPS staff demonstrate passion, enthusiasm and commitment to the wellbeing, learning and development of all students. Please join me in celebrating our/their special professional day by sharing a positive comment to your child/ren’s teacher/s about the terrific job they are doing every day!
