It’s amazing to be already writing my end of Term 1 newsletter comments for 2024 this week… after the recent Easter break, it appears that this term has really flown by so quickly!
Our recent Prep to 6 Assemblies have been well attended by families and have provided a brief window into seeing the rich and diverse learning opportunities of our students and classes across the term.
Every day matters, when well and able to be at school; and we look forward to the ongoing learning progress of all students in Terms 2 and beyond. Class routines and learning expectations are now known and well-established in classrooms; so, we look forward to many ‘Personal Best’ student achievements being made, from the very start of next term!
Please, all take care and stay safe during the holiday break… and we look forward to seeing everyone on day 1 of next term, Monday 29 April!
ANZAC Day School March Information – Thursday 25 April (in week 2 of the school holidays)
Table Cape Primary School will be attending the Wynyard Community ANZAC Service at 11am on Thursday April 25 (in the school holiday break). All students are welcome to join the School’s marching group, scheduled to leave the former RSL at 10:30am, and attend the Service at the Wynyard Cenotaph.
To attend with our School, children must be in full school uniform, be dropped off and collected by an adult who signs them in and provides contact details. Students will be representing their School Community and behaviour expectations will be high. Students in Kinder to Grade 2 will require an older sibling or adult to walk with and accompany them through the lengthy, formal service (approx. 1 hour from the start of the march to end of the service).
If your child would like to attend, then they are asked to please meet our March Coordinator, Mrs Type-Farrell (along with other school staff) in the former RSL car park at 10:15am for sign-in and briefing. NB Only students brought by an adult, who signs in and provides contact details, will be able to join the procession. Our Student Leaders will participate in the Service and lay a wreath on behalf of our School.
At the completion of the Service, children must be collected by the adult from the Cenotaph. The Service is expected to be finished by 11:30am.
To help with supervision and planning, some families may have completed an Expression of Interest form sent home on Wednesday this week; however, this was to provide us with a planning guide and families are still welcome to turn-up on the day.
Student Council 2024 LEGO Competition
Our newly elected Student Council representatives will have met with their classes this week and shared the first key information to build enthusiasm about this year’s competition. This early notice will provide students with making a start on their possible entry in the school holidays. Please read a copy of their information below, to ensure families are aware of the competition rules:
Road Safety Reminder
Some families have shared with us concerns about the occasional inappropriate ‘speed’ of vehicles on Gibbons Street during the 40km/h zone regulated times before and after school. It’s our joint responsibility to abide by these enforced speed safety requirements, along with always modelling safe use of the designated crossing area when crossing the road outside of school. Please continue to reinforce and follow these important rules to keep everyone safe.
End of Term 1 Staffing Update:
- A huge ‘Thank You’ and ‘Farewell,’ to Susie Gamble at the end of this term. Susie commenced working with us in the latter part of 2023, filling an Education Facility Attendant position. Susie has worked really hard as a key and positive member of our EFA team; her high skill levels have ensured the grounds and maintenance of our school are in ‘top order’ and we will really miss her energy and contributions at TCPS. We sadly have to say, ‘Goodbye,’ and wish her all the very best. Welcome, consequently to Mark Thomas who will start the temporary EFA position from the start of term 2.
- Joining our Teacher Assistants supporting learning and class programs in term 2 are Jo Laskey and Pea’ Kapene-Laing. We are really pleased to have both joining our staff team on a more regular basis!
