School is the best place for our kids, it is a chance to be around friends, learn new things, grow and have fun.
Sometimes the final stretch of the year can be challenging for regular school attendance. Here are some tips to make every day count:
- Create a routine.
- Allow enough time in the morning.
- Be on time, every day.
- Plan appointments and trips outside school hours.
- Get a good night’s sleep.
- Set some technology boundaries.

Friday 25 October is DAY for DANIEL – Australia’s largest child safety
education and awareness day
What is Day for Daniel?
Held annually on the last Friday of October, Day for Daniel honours the memory of Daniel Morcombe. The Daniel Morcombe Foundation (DMF) asks all Australians on this very special day to Wear Red, Educate and Donate.
This year we are holding an awareness day at school by asking staff and students to ‘wear something red’ (No donations required).
Parents, carers, and educators are encouraged to start a conversation with children and young people about personal safety. Schools and early learning centres conduct child safety education activities. Businesses and community come together to raise awareness of child safety issues.
To further support families I have attached one of the Foundation’s Fact Sheets: DMF_FS_Talking_personal_Safety.pdf
It is the responsibility of adults to keep children safe, this includes helping them develop personal safety skills. It is not about scaring or frightening children but increasing communication and learning new skills. Our job as safe adults is to listen, believe and support.
2025 Planning and Consultation Phase
- Important communication regarding all current enrolments - An essential piece of information that directly affects us forming our 2025 classes, staffing and programs is having the most accurate information about our total student numbers.
- If you know that you will be moving and not be enrolled at our school for 2025, then please either inform me directly or advise the School Office (6442 3377) as soon as possible, as we urgently require this information prior to deciding and drafting 2025 classes. It greatly assists us to have the most accurate enrolment numbers to assist with forward class/school planning.
Important communication regarding a child’s educational needs - Our goal is to create the most equitable classes possible by balancing a range of needs including both learning ability and social connections. Whilst parents have one child to consider (in a given class), we have approximately 320 children to consider, so decisions need to be suitable for the majority.
We have dedicated, hardworking teachers who are collectively responsible for all children. No matter what grade or class, each child in this school will be taught by quality teachers in a school culture of high expectations.
Please understand, your child’s current class teacher is in the best position to formulate new 2025 class groupings; and in the latter half of next term, they will make the best decision for all children in the school. This includes making decisions based on the educational and social/emotional well-being of the majority of children.
Due to this we are unable to accommodate personal requests because accommodating everyone’s personal wishes will not support what is best for all children. Students will have the opportunity to write down friends that they would like to be placed with for 2025 and we will ensure that all students have at least one friend in their class.
If there is any special information that you feel is important for us to take into account (even if already shared with your child’s current class teacher) then please make contact with me (either in person, or by a phone call to school or thorough email lynette.grundy@decyp.tas.gov.au) by the end of the school day on Friday 1 November.
I thank you in advance, for your timely support of our important 2025 school planning processes that commence from the beginning of next term.
HATS OFF TO TEACHERS… Celebrating World Teacher’s Day
This year, Friday 25 October is when we celebrate World Teachers’ Day in Australia. Every day, Tasmanian teachers are making a difference educating and inspiring young people across our state.
World Teachers’ Day is a day for all members of our School Community to celebrate and be proud of our teachers. It is an opportunity to acknowledge our teachers and say thanks for the significant contributions they make in our classrooms and communities.
‘Australians are increasingly appreciating the crucial role of quality teaching and school leadership in equipping students with the skills, confidence and a desire to succeed in a fast-changing world.’
While the greatest reward for teachers is seeing the growth in their students that learning brings, community recognition is also important for the advancement and renewal of the profession. World Teacher’s Day is an opportune time to pay tribute to Australia’s wonderful teachers.
All our TCPS staff demonstrate passion, enthusiasm and commitment to the wellbeing, learning and development of all students. Please join me in celebrating our/their special professional day by sharing a positive comment to your child/ren’s teacher/s about the terrific job they are doing every day!
School Association – we are now taking orders…. fundraising with tea towels (to create lasting memories)!
Table Cape Primary’s School Association would like to remind that they are running a Tea Towel Fundraiser to raise money for playground equipment.
Our limited-edition Tea Towel design will be made up of self-portraits drawn by all our children and staff. Just like a yearbook on a tea towel. The pictures and names will be arranged all together as a commemorative design then screen printed onto certified organic 100% cotton 50x70cm tea towels.
As well as being great for lint free dish drying, the tea towels look fantastic and are a long-lasting memento of your children and their friends. They make great gifts that are easily mailed to relatives, so make sure you order a few extras for family members and your keepsake box.
The kids just love seeing their artwork in print. By purchasing our tea towels you are not only receiving a practical keepsake, but you are also helping to achieve our fundraising goal, which would not be possible without your support!
The price per towel is $15 each.
The Tea Towel print run will be limited so make sure you, your family and friends do not miss out. We will have an example tea towel on display near the School Office for you to see the quality and size.
TCPS Student and staff self-portraits have been sent to the printers for the final design proof to be completed… and at the end of last term, students took home an order form for families to purchase this unique item!
So… please return your order form with money to the School Office as soon as possible!
To ensure you do not miss out on this special, limited-edition keepsake, all orders and payments must be returned to the school office by Tuesday 5 November.
Today’s important reminders for families are that:
- The final Staff Professional Learning Day (non-Student Day) is on Friday 1 November and
- The following Monday 4 November, is a Public Holiday
